MOSCOW — Emergency officials on Saturday said a Russian passenger jet exploded after an engine caught fire while taxiing for takeoff at a Siberian airport. One person was killed and three are missing.

Emergency services spokesman Vadim Grebennikov said 124 passengers and crew were evacuated before the explosion Saturday, which destroyed the plane.

There was no immediate information about whether any of them were injured. It was unclear whether the person who died was killed in the explosion.
