A medium-sized black dog suspected of being infected with rabies was reported by the Health Ministry on Tuesday in the area of the Merom Galil regional council.

Anyone who was in direct contact with the dog or whose pets were in contact with wandering or injured dogs from since July 26 should urgently contact the Tiberias District Health Office at (04) 6410300 or their nearest district health office.

During off hours or weekends, one should go to a hospital’s emergency room. The ministry asked parents to check with their children if they were in contact with such an animal. Anyone scratched or bitten by a mammal should immediately wash it with running water and soap, apply disinfectants and go for medical help.
