Authorities on Thursday announced the arrest of three Arabs who allegedly threw a brick that struck the head of a police officer in Jerusalem’s Old City during Jerusalem Day festivities earlier this month, Israel Radio reported.

The officer suffered serious injuries as a result of the alleged attack.

Prosecutors filed an indictment against the three youths in Jerusalem District Court. They are requesting that the youths be remanded to custody rather than be released.

Police told Israel Radio that two of the arrested youths confessed to the crime, which was aimed at “preventing settlers from entering Jerusalem.” The third suspect is denying the charges.
