UN's Ban urges political settlement for Syrian conflict

UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon on Friday urged against military action in Syria, warning it could spark further sectarian violence, AFP reported.

"I must warn that ill-considered military action could cause serious and tragic consequences, and with an increased threat of further sectarian violence," he said.

While "some flee the country, others dig in to fight," which further cements the need to "avoid further militarization of the conflict and revitalize the search for a political settlement instead," Ban said.
