The Jerusalem-based equity crowdfunding platform OurCrowd will collaborate with India’s LetsVenture to boost investment opportunities for Indian and Israeli start-ups, the partners announced.
As part of the partnership, OurCrowd will offer curated deals to Indian investor syndicates managed by LetsVenture, a funding system that works to make startup funding an easier process in India. OurCrowd will also showcase Indian start-ups on its platform, enhancing their international investment and business development prospects, the partners said on Monday night.
OurCrowd and LetsVenture will also work to create an “India Fund” to invest in Israeli, Indian and global start-ups, primarily to attract investments from family funds and high net worth individuals in India, as well as from OurCrowd’s global network, according to the firms.
“The partnership with OurCrowd aligns with our vision of offering our investors access to some of the best start-ups across geographies including Israel, along with giving LetsVenture portfolio companies access to global investors for their next round of funding,” said Shanti Mohan, co-founder and CEO of LetsVenture. “In this partnership, with one of the largest equity crowdfunding platforms globally, we do believe this is a win-win for both of us.”
As part of the collaboration, LetsVenture announced plans to facilitate “take to market” activities to provide OurCrowd companies access to the Indian market. These activities, which are currently under development, are slated to begin operating in 2018, the firm added.
“India is a critical growth market for our business with a huge number of very exciting start-up investment opportunities in a range of sectors,” said Jon Medved, CEO of OurCrowd. “Israel and India have a great joint heritage sharing many of the same entrepreneurial qualities that are the backbone of our economies. I am excited to be entering into this collaboration with LetsVenture, which I believe will deliver great value to our investors.”
