Sefer Torah Just in time for Rosh Hashana, the Schmelzer family, owners of the Shlomo Group, dedicated a new Torah scroll in memory of the patron of the family, Shlomo Schmelzer.

1 Breaking through barriers Friends of Rabin Medical Center (RMC – Beilinson Hospital) gathered for a festive evening to celebrate women breaking through barriers and looking toward the future. Welcoming guests were Pini Cohen, chairman of the Friends of RMC and chairman of the Noy Foundation; Dr. Eyran Halpern, CEO Rabin Medical Center; and Orly Maskin, CEO of the Friends of RMC. Guests who came to donate to the cause included Varda and Boaz Dotan, Yoram Petrushka, Yair Seroussi, Chaim and Naomi Horowitz, Shalva and Yoram Hessel, Yodfat and Pinchas Buchris and Pini and Tsipi Rubin.
2. Sefer Torah Just in time for Rosh Hashana, the Schmelzer family, owners of the Shlomo Group, dedicated a new Torah scroll in memory of the patron of the family, Shlomo Schmelzer. The event was held last week in Kiryat Shlomo in Tzrifin.
Family members and company employees were all invited to come take part in the writing of the last letter of the sefer Torah. Ataliah Schmelzer, president of the group, gave a short speech that moved all who were present, and Rabbi Yisrael Parnass led participants in song.
3. Saban Ventures Last week at Reading 3 at the Tel Aviv Port, Saban Ventures, which is owned by Israeli-American business giant Haim Saban, launched its new fund. Saban, chairman and CEO of Saban Capital Group, plans to invest the $100 million in Israeli content-based startups. Saban hosted the evening, along with Adam Chesnoff, president and chief operating officer of Saban Capital, and Barak Pridor, managing partner at Saban Ventures.
Guests included US Ambassador to Israel Dan Shapiro, Eyal Waldman, Mooly Eden, Chemi Peres, Tzahi Weisfeld, Adi Soffer-Teeni and Haim Romano.
4. Defense Counsel On Friday afternoon in the Smolarz Auditorium at Tel Aviv University, Dan Sheinman, founder and senior partner at Sheinman-Negev-Niv, one of the most prominent criminal law firms in Israel, celebrated the launching of his new book, Hasenegor (The Defense Counsel).
Attending the event were Opposition leader Isaac Herzog and his wife, Michal, Supreme Court Justices Yoram Danziger and Hanan Meltzer, Deputy President of the Supreme Court Judge (ret.) Theodore Orr, Yitzhak and Chaya Tshuva, Rami Ungar, Rami and Eti Caspi, Susan and Dan Propper and Sheinman partners, Nurit Negev and Iris Niv-Sabag.
5. Full moon A special evening was held at chef restaurant Jajo in the Sarona Market in Tel Aviv to celebrate the premiere of the movie Moon in the 12th House, directed by Dorit Hakim.
In an emotional voice, Hakim thanked all of the people who helped her along the way, especially the Edry Family, the owners of United King Films, producers of the film. There to toast the director were Hakim’s husband, businessman Shlomo Kramer, brothers Leon and Moshe Edry, Aviv and Peri Giladi and Chezi Bezalel.
