IDF Chief of Staff Lt.- Gen. Benny Gantz appointed Brig.-Gen. Moti Almoz as the military’s new spokesman on Monday following a routine reshuffle of army positions.
Almoz, the outgoing head of the IDF Civil Administration, will replace Brig.-Gen. Yoav Mordechai as spokesman.
Mordechai, who led the army’s public relations throughout Operation Pillar of Defense in November 2012, is expected to be promoted to the rank of major-general, and is set to be appointed to another senior position.
Brig.-Gen. David Menachem, the outgoing head of the Central Command’s headquarters, will replace Almoz.
Gantz also appointed Col. Avner Paz-Tzuk, currently the commander of the C4I Directorate’s Cyber-Defense Division, to the chief education officer post.
The timing of the appointments has yet to be finalized.
