Two rockets fired from the Gaza Strip on Thursday evening landed in open territory near the Eshkol Regional Council, Israel Radio reported.
The "Color Red" rocket siren sounded in the council, following which two blasts were heard, an IDF spokeswoman confirmed.
No injuries or damage was reported.
The blasts shattered weeks of relative calm in Israel's southern communities.
In late June, the Israel Air Force struck what it said were two arms depots in the center of the Gaza Strip as retaliation for six rockets that had been fired from Gaza into the South.
