All infiltrators must be expelled from the country, MK Danny Danon said Thursday, just hours after assailants in Jerusalem attacked the home of Eritrean migrants at the Mahane Yehuda market, seriously injuring one man and lightly injuring his six-month pregnant wife.
"Enough talk," Danon said. "It is time for action. Deport all of the infiltrators from the state of Israel."
Danon offered his preferred solution to the ongoing issue: Israel must "build cities for infiltrators, finish construction of the border fence (along Israel's southern border with Egypt) and expel all the infiltrators from Israel," he said. "Illegal infiltrators must have two modes: Deported or awaiting deportation."
The Likud MK rejected violence as a means of achieving the expulsion of the migrants after the late Wednesday night attack on Eritrean migrants in Jerusalem. "I condemn violence of any kind," he told the conference attendees. The attack was the second of its kind in little over a month targeting migrants in the bustling Mahaneh Yehuda market.
Quoting Eritrea's ambassador to Israel Tesfamariam Tekeste, Danon said "there is no danger in Eritrea." In May, Teseste denied allegations that his country would kill illegal infiltrators were Israel to deport them back to Eritrea.
"Citizens of Israel have turned into refugees in their own homes, and the (African) refugees have become the permanent residents (of Israel)," Danon said.
