Unknown assailants slashed the tires of some 20 cars in the Palestinian village of Sinjil in the northern West Bank on Wednesday morning, Judea and Samaria Police stated.
Ch.-Insp. Dudi Asraf, spokesman for the Judea and Samaria police said that there was no graffiti written on any of the cars, unlike in previous suspected “price tag” incidents in the West Bank.
Asraf added that the incident is seen by police as a criminal act with nationalist motives, and that an investigation has been opened to find the assailants responsible.
Head of the local council in Sinjil Ayub Suwid said that a total of 26 cars and tractors were found with their tires punctured early Wednesday morning.
Suwid said that residents reported to him seeing a group of Israeli settlers, a few of them allegedly wearing IDF uniforms, fleeing the village around 3am in the morning. He also said that Wednesday’s incident wasn’t the first of its kind for the village, which he said has tense relations with the nearby settlements of Shilo and Maaleh Levona.
