Police break up clashes in Hebron between dozens of Palestinians and Israelis, Army Radio reports; 1 Jewish woman, 1 Palestinian detained.

Settlers threw stones at the home of a Palestinian prisoner released as part of the deal to free kidnapped IDF soldier Gilad Schalit, Army Radio quoted Palestinian sources as saying Saturday.
Saturday marked “Shabbat Hebron,” in which Israelis visit the West Bank city for the reading of the Torah portion of Hayei Sarah.

Police and IDF soldiers were forced to separate dozens of Israelis and Palestinians in Hebron to prevent a potential violent encounter between the two groups.
One Jewish woman and one Palestinian were detained during the incident.
Police and IDF soldiers were continuing to maintain a presence in the area to prevent further disturbances.
MK Danny Danon (Likud) gave an address as part of the festivities in the city on Saturday.
“The Jewish settlement in Hebron is one of the pillars of Jewish settlement in the State of Israel,” Danon stated.
“The nationalist camp’s latest round of legislation will ensure the continuation of Jewish settlement in Hebron and in Judea and Samaria, and will prevent the Left from attempting to thwart widespread Zionist action.”
Danon added that “Shabbat Hebron,” in which the biblical Abraham’s purchase of the Cave of the Patriarchs is recounted, is proof of Israel’s historical claim to Hebron.
The Likud MK was joined in Hebron on Saturday by Public Diplomacy and Diaspora Affairs Minister Yuli Edelstein, Justice Minister Yaakov Neeman and Coalition chairman Ze’ev Elkin.
