The Backstreet Boys provide a healthy dose of nostalgia for the 1990s.

Before the Backstreet Boys embark on their residency in Las Vegas, the boy band will regale audiences in Rishon Lezion on Sunday with their hits that defined the 1990s.“Shalom, mazel tov in Israel, we can’t wait to see all of you, we miss everyone out there,” the boys told their fans in the Holy Land in a televised statement prior to their sold-out show.Sunday’s concert marks the band’s second visit to Israel. In 2015, the Backstreet Boys performed two sold-out shows in Ra’anana, proving that the love for them since their heyday 20 years ago never faded.And why would it? In an era of reboots and reunions for everything that glistened in the 1990s – the revival of TV’s Roseanne and Will and Grace are just two examples – it’s clear that that moment in time is something many are clamoring for, and Israel is no exception.They just want it that way.Those looking to get their healthy dose of 1990s nostalgia will likely hear the Boys’ biggest hits, such as “Quit Playing Games with My Heart,” “Everybody (Backstreet’s Back)” and “Show Me the Meaning of Being Lonely.”The band, which formed in 1993, was the object of affection of millions of pre-teen girls worldwide and sold more than 130 million albums. Although the debate over which was the best band between them and NYSNC was a heated one among prepubescent girls, the numbers don’t lie: The Backstreet Boys is the best-selling boy band in history and the only boy band to have its first nine albums reach the Billboard 200.While most boy bands run the tragic course of shooting straight up the charts and then crashing down, Nick Carter, Howie Doro, Brian Littrell, Kevin Richardson and AJ McLean are proof that it’s possible to keep the magic alive after marriages, children and other rites of passage.As the band celebrate its 25th anniversary, the Boys are showing no signs of slowing down.Although they may have some crow’s feet around their eyes and might have lost a bit of the spring in their step, their ability to make us feel 17 again is as strong as ever.The Backstreet Boys perform on April 22 at Live Park Arena in Rishon Lezion.
