1. Hotel designArchitects, designers, hotel brand managers, entrepreneurs and hoteliers recently participated in a conference for hotel design. Attending were Amir Hayek, president of Israel Hotels Association; Amir Halevy, director-general of the Tourism Ministry; architect Alon Baranovich; Lior Raviv, general manager of the Isrotel Hotel chain, who received recognition for the rapid development of the chain in recent years; and Roni Marom, head of the Mitzpeh Ramon Council.2. Game changers The Israeli Marketing Association held its annual conference last week at the Tel Aviv Convention Center. The theme of the day was ‘Game Changers in the Marketing World – the Innovations and Technologies that will Change the World of Marketing.’ A long list of great speakers spoke at the conference, including Uri Levin, founder of WAZE; Eyal Malis, chairman of the Marketing Association; Talma Biro, CEO of the Association; Dr.Shmuel Harlap, chairman of the Colmobil Group, and his wife Anat; Abigail Posner, head of Strategic Planning & Creative Effectiveness at Google Israel; Keren Elazri, cyber researcher at Tel Aviv University; and Ilan Shiloah, chairman of McCann Erickson-Kesher-Barel advertising firm.3. The Lie The Friends of Beit Lessin Theater gathered at the ZOA House in Tel Aviv last week to watch the premiere performance of the play, The Lie. Enjoying the cultural event were Tzipi Pines, artistic director and general manager of Beit Lessin; Friends of Beit Lessin chairwoman Jenny Brandes; Varda and Boaz Dotan; Sonia and Zvika Livnat; Liora and Michael Federman; and Limor Livnat.4. P.I.E. Challenge A special event called the P.I.E. Challenge was held at the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange last Thursday. The P.I.E. Challenge (Personalization in Learning) is a startup competition to promote educational solutions that was founded by the Trump Foundation for Education and the IDF Unit 8200 Alumni Association. The winning startup will be awarded an NIS 1 million prize. Attending were Inbal Chameides, CEO of P.I.E. Challenge; Eli Hurvitz, CEO of the Trump Foundation for Education; and Nir Lampert, chairman of the IDF Unit 8200 Alumni Association and CEO of the Mer Group.5. Accessible worldAn event entitled “Technology Builds an Accessible World for Everyone” was sponsored by Beit Issie Shapiro, PresenTense and Wix at the Tel Aviv Port last week. Graduates of the A31 Leap Accelerator, which promotes startups developing technologies for people with disabilities, unveiled their most recent innovations. Wix executives presented a platform they recently launched, which enables people with disabilities to easily create websites, as well as access existing sites. Attending were Nir Zohar, president of Wix; Jean Judes, executive director of Beit Issie Shapiro; Rachel Shaul, CEO of PresenTense; attorney Amy Palmer, director-general of the Justice Ministry; Eitan Israel, VP and general counsel at Wix; and Nir Horesh, director of Accessibility Project at Wix.Translated by Hannah Hochner.
