1. NO CLOWNING AROUND

Based on the popular 1986 Stephen King novel of the same name, It is the latest horror film from director Andy Muschietti. When children begin to disappear in the town of Derry, Maine, neighborhood kids band together to square off against Pennywise, an evil clown whose history of murder and violence dates back for centuries. 2. FIELD OF BROKEN DREAMS

John Ridley’s TV anthology drama American Crime returns with a third season about exploitation in rural America. The series is set in North Carolina, where undocumented workers toil away for little reward; a woman begins to question the methods of the family farm she married into; and a social worker tries to make a difference. With Felicity Huffman, Timothy Hutton, Regina King.

3. THE WRITING ON THE WALLS

As part of the first international street art festival in Israel titled The Walls, nine leading graffiti artists from Israel and abroad are creating a series of large paintings on the walls of private and industrial buildings on the streets of downtown Haifa.

During the festival, art tours of the city will be held, and music and cultural events will take place in cooperation with local bars, cafés and restaurants.

4. PARADING FOR PETS

In Tel Aviv, thousands of people will march from Gan Meir to Rabin Square to advocate on behalf of our furry, feathered, and finned friends. The march is initiated and organized by a number of groups, including Let the Animals Live, Anonymous and Vegan Friendly. Moderated by Miki Haimovich, the event will feature artists such as Arkadi Duchin, Alma Zohar and Geva Alon.

5. SEEING RED

This Saturday night, Rishon Lezion’s Live Park will become the largest REDSTOCK event that Israel has ever seen. Red Band is a popular Israeli- American puppet band that incorporates music and comedy. It is known for playing cover versions of well-known rock music and American folk songs. Mixing the energies of Santana and Jimi Hendrix, Red Band will be joined by special guests Ehud Banai, Berry Sakharof, Hadag Nachash, Jane Bordeaux and Amir Dadon.

6. A FEMALE PERSPECTIVE

Tel Aviv’s ZOA House presents a new exhibition by photographer Dikla Laor titled “Women in the Bible in the Golan Landscape.” Laor’s sources of inspiration for her vivid recreations come from biblical stories, myths and mythologies, classical art, the Renaissance period and the Middle Ages.

THE REEL DEAL The free summer outdoor movie screenings at Jaffa’s Gan Hapisga were a hit, reeling in hundreds of moviegoers each week. So much so that the Tel Aviv- Jaffa Municipality, together with the Third Ear, decided to continue the screening series through September.

However, this time, they’re shifting gears from musicals to teen-related films. These include Clueless on September 13 and The Breakfast Club (pictured) on September 29. Entrance is free.

8. BEER, GLORIOUS BEER

The public is invited to Tel Aviv’s annual Oktoberfest, where the atmosphere of the famous Munich Oktoberfest will be recreated. The festival’s main sponsor is Paulaner Brewery. Beer will be served in huge beer glasses that visitors can take home as souvenirs. To add to the Oktoberfest atmosphere, waitresses will wear the traditional costumes of the Munich beer halls. In addition to free-flowing brew, there will be food stalls, musical performances, photo booths and more.

9. STILL DOING ‘THE WALK OF LIFE’

After a series of successful performances in Israel, the Dire Straits Experience returns to rock the Holy Land once again. Led by former member of the original Dire Straits, Chris White, alongside six other world-class musicians, will bring some of the original magic of the influential rock band, known for such iconic songs as “Brothers in Arms,” “Money for Nothing” and “Romeo and Juliet.”

10. GIRL POWER

This year’s Mekudeshet Festival concludes with an epic celebration of girl power, with performances by some of the best-known female voices in Middle Eastern and African music. Khaira Arby, Ester Rada with Marina Maximilian, and Yael Deckelbaum & Prayer of the Mothers Ensemble will fill Jerusalem’s Tower of David with soulful melodies influenced by a variety of cultures and traditions.
