1. VIRTUAL EGG HUNTIn the film Ready Player One, director Steven Spielberg returns to his familiar ground of science-fiction action adventure, based on Ernest Cline’s bestseller of the same name. The film is set in 2045, with the world on the brink of chaos and collapse. But the people have found salvation in the OASIS, an expansive virtual reality universe created by the brilliant and eccentric James Halliday. (cartoon.org.il) 3. SINGING FOR THE MIMOUNA Riff Cohen celebrates the Mimouna with a band performance. Cohen is considered one of the leaders of the new generation of musicians in the modern Mediterranean musical genre. In the last year she has devoted herself to collecting material for her third album, while performing both here and abroad. HERE ‘AND NOW’Artist Lee Yanor presents a one-time performance “And Now,” in dialogue with art curator Netta Eshel. The artist will present a video installation displaying two new video works – a collaborative performance featuring visual artist Lior Tamim and Batsheva dancer Zina Zinchenko. PACINO PLAYS PATERNO Premiering April 8 on HBO (YES and HOT), the film Paterno reteams Al Pacino with director Barry Levinson.Pacino plays college-football coach Joe Paterno, who led Penn State’s team for 45 years, transforming a nascent athletic program into a gigantic money engine, an obscure regional school into a national brand, and central Pennsylvania’s Happy Valley from an economic backwater into a college sports capital. Two weeks after he earned his 409th victory, becoming the winningest Division I coach in college-football history, Paterno was fired amid a child sex abuse scandal. He died two months later of lung cancer.6. FIENDISH FOOTAGE The Hitler Chronicles – Blueprint for Dictators is a fourepisode documentary series that attempts to highlight the motivations that drove German dictator Adolf Hitler and how his strategies have influenced those that followed. The Hitler Chronicles comprises more than 900 archive films, with almost half the footage never seen before.The series begins airing April 8 on YES.7. ONE-ACT OPERA HOMAGE Der Kaiser von Atlantis (The Emperor of Atlantis) is a one-act opera for six singers and orchestra by Viktor Ullmann, with libretto by Peter Kien. The two collaborated on the work while interned in the Nazi concentration camp of Theresienstadt (Terezín) before being sent to Auschwitz. HAVE JUDAICA, WILL TRAVEL In the new exhibition “To Go – New Designs for Jewish Ritual Objects,” a group of leading contemporary designers were asked to create a travel set of objects for a Jewish holiday or life-cycle event. Featuring items such as Shabbat sets, a portable huppa, a matza-making kit and ritual objects for Havdala, the exhibition offers fascinating and original perspectives on the design of Judaica in the 21st century.Ongoing at the Israel Museum, Jerusalem 9. ORIGINS OF OUR ANTHEM The Israel Philharmonic Orchestra presents a concert for children concerning Israel’s national anthem. Hosted by celebrated pianist Astrith Baltsan, the concert, titled “Hatikva – the Mystery of the National Anthem,” will take the audience on a musical journey between nations, composers and anthems.
