The IDF deployed an Iron Dome air defense battery in Beersheva on Monday, following a spate of recent rocket attacks from the Gaza Strip.
Israel struck a terrorist site in northern Gaza overnight between Saturday and Sunday, hours after a Gazan rocket set off sirens in Ashkelon and the surrounding region, and explode din an open area.
Last week, the Israel Air Force struck three Hamas targets in the Strip Wednesday night, hours after sirens went off in the Ashkelon and Netivot regions after the two rockets crossed into Israel and exploded in open areas.
A jihadi-salafi organization calling itself the Omar Brigades said it was behind the attacks, and demanded that Hamas free members who had been imprisoned, while protesting the killing of one of its members in a Hamas raid on his home.
