Mediator in Topaz-ordered attack jailed for 5 years

The mediator in one of the Dudu Topaz-ordered attacks was sentenced to five years in jail on Thursday.
The man, Ophir Sasportas, was also ordered by the Tel Aviv District Court to pay his victim, Keshet director-general Avi Nir, NIS 70,000.
The troubled life of television star Topaz came to a tragic end last year, when he strangled himself in the bathroom of his prison cell, in Ramle's Nitzan Detention Center.
Topaz was awaiting trial for hiring goons to beat up several mediaexecutives and talk show hosts who had rejected his ideas fortelevision programs.
As well as Nir, Topaz's victims includedShira Margalit, deputy CEO of the Reshet television company and actors'agent Boaz Ben-Zion, all of whom were assaulted near their homes.
