Woman's body found covered with stab wounds in Galilee

Police suspect that 40-year-old woman's husband, who was also found dead at couple's home, stabbed her and then later committed suicide.

A man stabbed his wife to death and hanged himself in the Druse village of Samia in the Galilee overnight on Thursday.
The 49-year-old man, named as Moniv Ibrahim, and his 41-year-old wife, Najua Ibrahim, left behind five children, the youngest of which is aged seven and the oldest of which is aged 16.RELATED:Haifa man suspected of stabbing wifeAharonovitch warns against violent crime
The murder was witnessed by the couple's children, the oldest of which attempted to stop the stabbing and was injured by his father in the process. The children alerted Magen David Adom paramedics, who discovered the man's body hanging in a stairwell in the family home and declared him dead on the scene. They then found the woman's body in the couple's bedroom with stab wounds and pronounced her dead as well.
The couple had been involved in long standing feud, and the father was residing on the ground floor of the two-story home. Moniv Ibrahim scaled a ladder from his section of the home to the first floor and began stabbing his wife repeatedly, his children told police.
Najua Ibrahim headed the al-Basma special needs school in the village of Samia Kisra. Her violent death has left staff and pupils in a state of shock.
Police say the family has no record of domestic abuse complaints.
The scene was attended by deputy Galilee police sub-district head Dep.-Cmdr. Kobi Bahar and local police commanders.
