The woman who confessed to choking to death her two young daughters on Wednesday was sent for psychiatric evaluation by the Kfar Saba Magistrate’s Court on Thursday, despite claims by her husband that she is sane.
“That woman is as sane as I am or anyone else. She even managed to participate in a number of previous evaluations, and the fact is no one has tried to claim she was insane,” said Michal Aloni’s husband Amos.

During Aloni’s remand hearing, police attempted to delay the evaluation by a few days, arguing that it would disrupt the double homicide investigation. Police believe the two girls were choked while lying in their beds, just minutes before they were scheduled to head out for kindergarten and school.
Aloni’s attorney, Ori Hayon, slammed the police’s refusal to allow her to meet with her client during the remand hearing.
The court ruled that Aloni must remain in custody and be kept under observation due to the threat she poses to others and herself, adding that she must also undergo psychiatric evaluation.
Aloni was seen muttering to herself in court during the proceedings.
Aloni’s brother, Daniel Brahms, who was arrested with his sister on Wednesday, and who police say was in the home when the murders took place, was ordered to remain in custody for three additional days.
On Wednesday night, Aloni reenacted the killings for police at her home, as neighbors shouted recriminations.
“You will hear their screams for the rest of your life,” one woman called out to Aloni.
After Thursday’s hearing, Roni and Natalie Aloni, aged 4 and 6, were buried at the Nahman cemetery in Ra’anana. Before their burial, the two small bodies lay side by side wrapped in black Zaka blankets.
Earlier, Amos Aloni told Channel 2 how his wife informed him over the phone that she had choked their two daughters to death.
“I said, ‘Are you joking? Are you normal?’ and I rushed home,” Aloni recounted.
He then described the horrific scene he discovered when he reached his home.
“They were laid out next to each other in perfect order,” Aloni said, as he sobbed.
“Their eyes were open and there was a big red mark across each of their throats.”
