IAF fighter jets bombed a weapons warehouse in the northern Gaza Strip overnight Tuesday.
The jets hit their target directly, causing no collateral damage, the army said.
According to the IDF Spokesperson, the operation was a response to the continued launching of rockets from Gaza into Israel.
"The IDF will not tolerate any attempt to harm Israeli citizens and IDF
soldiers and will continue to act with determination and force against
any element that carries out terrorist attacks against Israel," read an
IDF statement concerning the operation. The statement placed the blame
for the rocket attacks on the Hamas government in Gaza.
In the latest rocket attack, a Kassam hit an open area in the Hof Ashkelon region on Tuesday night.
No one was hurt in the attack and no damage was reported.
The army said that 11 rockets launched from Gaza had landed in Israel since last Thursday, one of which resulted in the death of a Thai greenhouse worker.
The IDF added that approximately 35 rockets had been fired at Israel since the beginning of the year, and that over 330 rockets were fired from the Gaza Strip into Israel since the end of Operation Cast Lead.
