The IDF caught a group of suspected drug smugglers seeking to cross the Egyptian border on Saturday, killing one and injuring four others. The injured were brought to Soroka Hospital in Beersheva and will be interrogated later by security forces.
The IDF claimed that the soldiers fired upon the group after first attempting to arrest them and firing warning shots, according to a Israel Radio report.

A spokesman for the Netanya police told The Jerusalem Post in May that police had never seen a such a serious drug shortage as this year in Israel, a phenomenon he attributed to heightened police efforts.
“We’ve never seen a season like this, where there was this sort of drought in the hash market,” he said.
