Friedmann: Visits to Gaza should be allowed only if delegates meet Schalit

Justice Minister Daniel Friedmann said on Thursday evening that humanitarian visits to the Gaza Strip should be approved only on the condition that the visitors meet with kidnapped IDF soldier Gilad Schalit. The minister also said humanitarian delegations to Gaza should check the conditions of Schalit's captivity, and stress to Hamas that the conditions in which the terror group is holding him constitutes a severe violation of international law. Friedmann's statement came following the criticism by Hamas officials of Israel for not allowing French diplomats to enter the Gaza Strip in order to report on the humanitarian situation there. "Israel is trying to prevent the world from seeing the real situation in Gaza," they reportedly said.
