Pro-Palestinian rally in London turns violent before police control crowd

About 12,000 demonstrators rallied in London's Hyde Park on Saturday, protesting the Israeli operation against Hamas in Gaza, and showing support for the Palestinian cause. Demonstrations were also held in Kensington Park Gardens, and outside the city's Israeli embassy. Demonstrators carried placards marked "Gaza: Stop the massacre" and chanting "free, free Palestine." Although the rallies were largely peaceful, one reportedly turned violent for a few minutes outside the Israeli embassy, when protesters attempted to break through barricades. Police controlled the scuffles minutes later.
