David Landau 370.
Buckingham Palace announced over the weekend that esteemed journalist and author David Landau has been awarded a rare honor from the Queen.
Landau is to be appointed an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE). He has been given the award in recognition of his services to advancing UK/Israel understanding and peace in the Middle East.
David Landau commented on the award: "I've always felt lucky," Landau said, "growing up in victorious postwar Britain and living now in the reborn Jewish state, helping it, as a journalist, reach peace with its neighbors. For me, this award powerfully and poignantly vindicates that feeling."
Commenting on the award, British Ambassador to Israel Matthew Gould said, “David represents a special link between the United Kingdom and Israel. He has made a huge contribution over several decades to English-language journalism in Israel, and it is wonderful that Her Majesty has chosen to honour him in this way.
Throughout his career he has shown commitment to peace, and worked tirelessly to build relations between the UK and Israel. He has had an impressive career at the Jerusalem Post, then as editor of Haaretz, and now with The Economist. Through all that time, David has used his outstanding journalistic talent and deep understanding of Israel to engage readers across the world and bridge gaps in perception. I am delighted he will now be an Officer of the Order of the British Empire.”
