2 A learning experience
The Tel Aviv International Student Film Festival will take place from May 31 to June 7 at the Tel Aviv Cinematheque.

Featured will be 250 films from 40 countries, including the opening-night film, by Belgian brothers Jean-Pierre and Luc Dardenne, Two Days, One Night.

3 SHARP SUSPENSE
Peaky Blinders, an intelligent and suspenseful British crime series premieres on HOT 3 and HOT VOD on Monday, at 10:15 p.m. The series, which won two BAFTA awards, is set in Birmingham just after World War I, and the plot centers around the gang that sew razor blades into the a of their caps, and their ambitious and highly dangerous boss, Tommy Shelby.

4 SPACE AS CANVAS
Iva Kafri, winner of the 2013 Rappaport Prize for a Young Israeli Painter, opens a onewoman show at the Tel Aviv Museum of Art tomorrow. Kafri’s painting Multiplane(s) starts in an empty gallery space, into which she “pours” her materials and continues creating her art in that space.

On view until September 13.

5 FORBIDDEN PHOTOGRAPHS
Scenes of Sana’a: Yihye Haybi’s Photographs from Yemen, 1930–1944, is a new and interesting exhibition at the Israel Museum, Jerusalem, which presents a collection of rare and previously unseen documentary photographs taken by Yemenite Jewish photographer Yihye Haybi.

6 FOLK SONGS
Mezzo-soprano Ayelet Amots-Avramson, accompanied by pianist Jonathan Zak, presents a charming concert of artistic songs Around the World. In the program – Ravel: Mélodies populaires grecques, Britten: English, Irish and Scottish songs, Villa Lobos: Canções típicas brasileiras, Yehezkel Braun: Sephardi romances (Ladino), and more.

7 MAGICAL MYSTERY TOUR
The Inbal Pinto and Avshalom Polak Dance Company presents Gold Fish, a dance-theater performance for children (age six and up), which turns mundane life routines into magical new worlds through imagination.

8 TOURING MARATHON
The Yad Ben-Zvi Institute is holding a threeday marathon of tours throughout Jerusalem.

9 LIGHT EVENT
Light Spaces, an exhibition by James Turrell, one of the giants of contemporary art, will be presented at the Israel Museum, Jerusalem from June 7. Turrell has been exploring the ways in which light is seen and experienced, treating it as a material. In his spectacular installations, the spiritual and the technological intersect as light is framed, multiplied, altered and isolated. Light Spaces is based on the recent retrospective displayed at LACMA in honor of the artist’s 70th birthday.

10 DRAWN FROM THE OCEAN

The dramatic story of the Titanic arrives in Israel as a large exhibition, taking visitors on a journey back in time to experience the legend of Titanic featuring real artifacts recovered from the ocean floor along with re-creations of the ship’s cabins and personal stories. The exhibition has been touring the globe for the last 15 years, arriving in Israel for the first time June 7, and will be on view until August 25.
