Egypt troops arrest 2 armed Palestinians in Sinai

Hamas members illegally crossed into Egypt from Gaza, were found with weapons in a stolen car after border was closed.

A security official says Egyptian troops have arrested two armed Palestinians from the Hamas group who entered the country illegally from the Gaza Strip.
The official says the men had crossed from Gaza into Egypt's Sinai Peninsula using smuggling tunnels.

He says they were arrested on Monday in a stolen car in the town of el-Arish, near the border, along with three Egyptian smugglers. The official says they had weapons, hand grenades, two RPGs and about 50,000 Egyptian pounds ($8,600) in cash.
The official says an investigation is under way. He spoke on condition of anonymity because he is not authorized to talk to the media.
Egypt on Sunday closed its border with Gaza amid the turmoil gripping the country.
