'Missing Google exec. slated to be released by Egypt'

Egyptian telecom mogul says he was promised by authorities that Wael Ghonim, last seen Jan 27, will be released shortly.

Missing Google executive Wael Ghonim was expected to be released Monday, an Egyptian telecom mogul told state television on Sunday.
Naguib Sawiris said that he was promised by Egyptian authorities that Google's head of marketing for Middle East and North Africa, missing for over 10 days, would be released Monday by 4 p.m., Reuters reported.

On Saturday, The New York Times reported that Ghonim was believed to have been detained by Egyptian security forces.
According to the report, Wael Ghonim was believed to be behind an anonymous Facebook page that first began organizing the January 25 protests, which kicked off the still-ongoing 13 days of unrest and demonstrations that are demanding the resignation of Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak.
One of the last tweets listed on Ghonim's Twitter account says, "We got brutally beaten up by police people." Another said he was "very worried as it seems that government is planning a war crime tomorrow against people." After searching hospitals, the Google executive's family hadreportedly concluded he was snatched by Egyptian security forces, according to the report.
