The Israel Guide Dog Center for the Blind will hold its third annual sports event on Tuesday with the goal of promoting healthy living as another step on the way to independence, mobility and self-fulfillment for the blind.
The event – to be held at the center in Beit Oved, near Ness Ziona – will include a race for the blind to run side by side with accompanying sighted runners; a special tandem biking track where blind and sighted participants will bike together; as well as a running track for blind, visually impaired and sighted children and youth.
Ahead of the competition, during which trophies will be awarded, blind participants have been training with groups of sighted people introduced to them by the organization.
Tuesday’s event will also include a tour of the Israel Guide Dog Center’s state-ofthe- art training facilities.
