Jerusalem Municipality to teach taxi drivers English

City announces initiative to improve drivers ability to communicate with tourists and provide information about local attractions.

The city of Jerusalem, in cooperation with representatives of taxi drivers in the city, are set to begin providing 60 hours of  English lessons to drivers to help them improve customer service to tourists.
In a statement released by the city, officials say learning English will improve the level of service taxi drivers are able to give to tourists who come to the city.
The drivers will be able to better communicate with passengers and give them directions and information about cultural attractions in the city.
The drivers will be provided with 60 hours of study, with class sizes of around 10 drivers per course, and focus on relevant and useful language.
The course will take place at the Berlitz school for languages in Jerusalem.
In a statement announcing the project, Mayor Nir Barkat said that he has no doubts that tourists will be impressed with the results of the course.
