Sharon subdistrict police are probing a suspected gangland murder in Netanya, after a local drug dealer was found dead in his studio apartment in the city on Tuesday morning.
Sharon police said the victim was found by his brother, who stopped by his apartment to check up on him in the morning and found him lying dead on the floor of the house. The brother called police, who came to the scene with paramedics only to pronounce the man dead at the scene.
Police know the cause of death but have asked for it not to be published so as not to hamper the investigation.
The victim was a 42-year-old man involved in drug dealing and indoor marijuana cultivation. At the moment police are examining the possibility that the hit was meant for his brother, who is himself a more prominent local criminal figure.
Sharon subdistrict Commander Doron Turgeman said Monday that by the time paramedics came to the house in the Vatikim neighborhood the man was already dead. He added that a special investigative team will take the case and that at the time they are examining all possible motives for the killing.
