Magen David Adom teams had plenty to do over Yom Kippur, treating 2,168 people who felt unwell or were injured. They suffered from dehydration, were hurt in road and bicycle accidents and other incidents.

Fifty-eight people fainted, and 28 others needed resuscitation. MDA ambulances transferred 122 women to hospitals to give birth, and but two gave birth at home because the babies arrived suddenly. A total of 246 children were hurt on bikes, skateboards, skates and rollerblades and needed first aid. In addition, 54 people were injured in 15 road accidents around the country despite meager traffic.

Yom Kippur: It’s fourth and long

A man around age 50 was treated after near-drowning on a rocky beach in Bat Yam and taken to Wolfson Medical Center. In Haifa, a 19-year-old man was stabbed in a fight and taken in moderate condition to Rambam Medical Center. In Tamra, a 22-year-old man was stabbed in his chest and taken to Rambam in serious condition.

A 10-month-old baby from Karmiel suffered burns from boiling water and treated at Western Galilee Hospital in Nahariya.

Jerusalem police reported four incidents of stone throwing in the capital during Yom Kippur.

Three of the incidents involved stones being thrown at Arabs driving on Hebron Road, in Beit Safafa, and Har Homa.

Stones were also thrown at a border police jeep on patrol in Ras al Amud. One youth from Ras al Amud was arrested in connection with the stone throwing.
