Stone-throwing Palestinian protesters take cover behind a garbage bin amidst tear gas fired by Israeli troops during clashes at a checkpoint near Ramallah last month..
Two Palestinians were killed over the weekend in separate clashes with the IDF in the West Bank, according to Palestinian sources.
The IDF is investigating the death of Ahmad al-Kutri, 20, who was killed in a demonstration outside Ramallah and the Psagot settlement on Friday.
According to an IDF representative, some 50 Palestinians threw stones in the direction of the Psagot settlement and at soldiers who responded to the incident.
The soldiers used riot control means and shot .22 caliber bullets, the representative said, adding that one of those bullets appeared to have hit a protester.
Hundreds of Palestinians held a funeral procession in Ramallah on Saturday for Kutri.
Separately, some 300 protesters clashed on Friday with soldiers in Hebron, near a police checkpoint, according to the IDF Spokesman’s Office.
Protesters threw stones and Molotov cocktails at soldiers, who also responded with riot dispersal means and .22 caliber bullets, an IDF representative said.
The IDF said it knew Palestinians had been wounded in the clashes, but did not know of any deaths from the incident.
Palestinian medical officials, however, said Nader Edres, 43, died on Saturday from a gunshot wound to the chest he sustained during that demonstration.
After his funeral on Saturday, youths clashed with soldiers who responded with dispersal means to scatter the crowd.
