Two killed in suspected hit-and-run accident on Route 4

Police say man, woman stopped on side of road to change punctured tire when truck ran them over; bus collision in TA lightly injures 15 people.

Two pedestrians on Sunday were killed in an apparent hit-and-run accident on Route 4 near the Yavne interchange.
According to witnesses, the driver fled the scene in a small white truck heading north.

According to a preliminary police investigation, the two victims, a man and a woman in their thirties, were stopped on the side of the road changing a tire when the truck hit them. Witnesses said the driver stopped for a short period of time after he hit the pedestrians, and then drove away.
When paramedics arrived they announced the couple dead at the scene. Police set up roadblocks in the area to search for the driver.
The police requested that anyone with any information on the accident call 0506274441.
Later Sunday, police released the names of those killed in the accident. The victims, a young married couple in their early twenties were Ziv and Shani Kariaf. The young woman was reported to be pregnant.
In another accident on Sunday, two buses collided on Holtz Street in Tel Aviv.
One bus was transporting children, the other was an Egged passenger bus.
Fifteen people were lightly injured in the crash and taken to Wolfson and Ichilov hospitals for treatment.
