Bar Association district leaders called on Sunday for Judge Varda Alshech to be ousted from her post as deputy president of the Tel Aviv District Court.
The call came after Judge (Emeritus) Eliezer Goldberg, the ombudsman for complaints against judges, upheld a complaint that Alshech substantially altered the protocols to a case.
The Bar Association filed a complaint against Alshech in 2011 after a lawyer who had taken part in a hearing before the judge regarding a company liquidation identified differences between the protocol he received immediately after the hearing and another copy he received months later.
In a rare press conference in Tel Aviv on Sunday, Bar Association district chairmen called on Justice Minister Yaakov Neeman to accept the ombudsman’s report on Alshech with a view to bringing her term in office to an end.
Bar Association officials present at the press conference were Jerusalem District chairman attorney Asher Axelrod; attorney Yosef Haham, chairman of the Haifa District; Southern District chairman attorney Danny Alyagon; Northern District chairman attorney Khaled Zo’abi and Tel Aviv District chairman attorney Efi Nave.
The district leaders said they decided to collaborate because of the importance of the affair.
