Police: 9 teenage boys sexually abused girl they met on Facebook

Police said the girl felt compelled to give in to the young men, because they threatened to destroy her reputation otherwise.

Police this week arrested nine teenage boys between the ages of 15 and 18 they suspect sexually assaulted a 12-year-old girl from the Sharon region over the past few weeks.
Four of the suspects were released on house arrest on Monday, while the other five will be taken for a remand extension on Tuesday morning.
Police said that after receiving a complaint from an official at the school where the victim studies they launched an undercover investigation, and determined that the boys made contact with the girl, often but not always by way of Facebook, and invited her to their homes and to public parks where they sexually assaulted her.
Police said the girl felt compelled to give in to the young men, because they threatened to destroy her reputation otherwise.
In addition to the investigation, police notified local social services, who have been in touch with the victim to provide her with assistance.
