Gilad Schalit’s captors talked with him and even laughed with him, senior Hamas
official in Damascus Salah Alarori said Wednesday morning in an interview with
Israel Radio.
“Schalit’s captors treated him well for the majority of his
captivity and were not violent toward him,” asserted Alarori, who was a member
of the negotiating team for the Schalit deal on behalf of Hamas.

Gilad also endured difficult moments when he missed his family,” he
added.
The Hamas official told Israel Radio that the IDF soldier was held
in Gaza for the duration of his captivity.
He further noted that the
soldier took his strength from the value that Israeli society places on human
life. Alarori stated that, as an enemy, he would prefer for Israeli society to
drop this value.
Alarori said that the moment in which Hamas decided to
sign the agreement for Schalit’s release was an extremely difficult one because
it meant that some important prisoners would remain in prison.
