Rivlin consoles family of teen killed by Syrian missile

President-elect expresses condolences to Karaka family: "Your son is everyone's son."

President-elect Reuven Rivlin visited the Karaka family Tuesday, whose 14-year-old son Muhammad was killed by a Syrian missile Sunday.
"Your son is everyone's son," Rivlin told the boy's father, Fahmi Karaka. "I came here to express my condolences in the name of all citizens of the State of Israel, Jews, Druse and Muslims."
Rivlin expressed his hope that "we can all live together and respect one another."
As for those responsible for killing the teenager, Rivlin said "the State of Israel does not allow harm to its citizens…This was an attack meant to disrupt life in Israel."
Karaka was the first casualty from a cross-border missile strike on the Golan Heights during the Syrian civil war. The 14-year-old was killed and two others were wounded when an anti-tank missile fired from inside Syria hit a civilian vehicle that belonged to his father, a contractor, doing maintenance work for the Defense Ministry.
