Senior Israeli mob figure found shot in head, dies of wounds

Media reports suggest that man shot himself in Netanya home, however police emphasize that they have not yet determined who the shooter was; crime figure's name not cleared for publication.

A senior Israeli mob figure who was found shot in the head in Netanya on Thursday succumbed to his wounds after being rushed to the hospital.
MDA paramedics called to the scene transferred the man, described as being in his fifties, to Laniado Medical Center in Netanya in critical condition. He was pronounced dead shortly afterward.
Media reports suggested that the man had shot himself, however police emphasized that they had not yet determined who the shooter was.
The man, whose name was not cleared for publication, was found with a single gunshot wound to the head. A gun was found next to his body when police arrived, adding to suspicions that the gunshot wound was self-inflicted.
He was alone at home with his wife at the time of the shooting.
The man in question was considered one of the most well-known crime bosses in the Netanya area. He had survived several attempts on his life from underworld rivals in the past.
