Report: Naomi Ragen wins reversal of judgment against her in copyright case

Plaintiff Sara Shapiro ordered to pay back damages that Ragen had paid.

Author Naomi Ragen on Thursday announced that the Supreme Court reversed a Jerusalem District Court decision against her for violating copyright law and ordered plaintiff and haredi author Sara Shapiro to pay back NIS 97,000 in damages that Ragen paid as part of the judgment.
Part of the decision was a compromise between the parties, in which Ragen agreed that any future printing of the book under dispute would replace 29 sentences in her 400-page novel, said Ragen.
Also, Ragen agreed that the NIS 97,000 would go to charities Yad Sarah and Yad Eliezer.
Ragen added that the Supreme Court had found aspects of the lower court ruling by then-judge Joseph Shapira, now the state comptroller, problematic and decided to reverse the decision and forge a compromise on the above issues.
