A witness for the prosecution in the Holyland real estate prosecution affair awoke to find bullet holes in his vehicle Monday morning.The witness, attorney Avi Drecsler, discovered that shots were fired at his car outside his Ramat Gan home.RELATED:Olmert charged for graft in Holyland Affair Olmert slams Holyland indictment as 'fairy tale'Tel Aviv district police said they confirmed receiving a call from Drecsler, and sending out forensic officers to the scene.Police said it was too soon to know who fired the bullets.“We discovered signs of shots,” a police spokesman said.
Drecsler was formerly head of the Israel Lands Authority. He described himself as a mere “technical witness” in the Holyland trial.He added that he had neither requested nor received additional security following the shooting, and that he did not know who might be behind the attack.Last week, former prime minister Ehud Olmert and 12 others were indictedon allegations of giving and receiving bribes in the Holyland affair – one of the largest corruption scandals in the state’s history.The 112-page indictment, filed in the Tel Aviv District Court, charges that Holyland real-estate developers paid tens of millions of shekels to public employees and elected officials to advance the housing project in Jerusalem.
