Israeli flag football shines in Germany

The Israeli men's team captured first place and the gold medal for the first time on an international level by beating out 47 other teams.

The Israel men's and women's flag football national teams had much success last weekend in Walldorf, Germany, at the Big Bowl VII tournament, the largest European flag football event, including teams from countries such as Germany, Austria, Denmark, Israel, Venezuela, Ireland, Russia, The United Kingdom, Serbia, Switzerland, Sweden, Italy, Netherlands and the United States.
The Israeli men's team captured first place and the gold medal for the first time on an international level by beating out 47 other teams.
The blue-and-white went undefeated at 8-0, defeating a mixed Danish and Italian team called the "Barbarians" in the championship game by a slim margin of 14-13.
The Israeli women came in a respectable third place, defeating the German national team to take the bronze. Israel will be hosting the 2014 IFAF Flag Football World Championships next summer in Jerusalem.
