Diane Keaton, one of the most distinctive and endearing American actresses of all time, will be honored in showings of her most beloved films at the Jerusalem Cinematheque.

Nandauri, named after a Georgian word meaning “The one I long for,” is a dark film that offers a female perspective on escaping her stifling rural village.

While all the categories are competitive, the Israeli competitions are watched especially closely by those interested in blue-and-white cinema

Cinematheques across the country are offering cult classics, documentaries, and sing-alongs for Independence Day.

These films are told from different points of view and in all different styles, with some relying on archival footage and others using different elements to tell stories from the Holocaust.

The 22nd French Film Festival kicks off on March 20, showcasing top French cinema, classics, and emerging directors across Israel’s major cinematheques.

Some of these films will open eventually at theaters, but many can only be seen at the festival, and there really is something special about watching movies in this joyous atmosphere.

The Jerusalem Cinematheque is hosting the festival from December 28 - January 2, including wide-ranging genres and competitions.
