Dreams of two high achieving Brown University students were cut short after a campus shooting left them dead and seven others wounded, prompting mourning across the campus community.

The gunman fled after shooting students in a classroom in Brown's Barus & Holley engineering and physics building, where outer doors had been left unlocked while exams were taking place.

The local police commissioner denied that there was any intelligence prior to the attack, KAN noted.

"He's a hero. One hundred percent a hero. Once we saw on social media, he's one hundred percent a hero," the man's cousin, Mustafa al-Ahmad, said. 

The horrific massacre in Sydney was a terrifying breaking point. But it did not emerge in a vacuum.

“This is a brutal terror attack targeting Jews because of their identity. ZAKA operates anywhere in the world where Jews are harmed," said Haim Weingarten, ZAKA’s deputy director of operations.

Just two weeks prior, Ostrovsky warned about the "alarming surge in Jew-hatred since October 7, including the defilement of Australian landmarks being hijacked as platforms for intimidation."

An attack on Jews celebrating their faith is an attack on Australia itself. It is an assault on our values, our social cohesion, and the basic right of people to gather without fear.

Several more were wounded in the mass shooting targeting the Hanukkah celebration in Australia's largest city, including an Israeli, the Foreign Ministry added.

A manhunt is ongoing as Providence Police and the FBI search for a suspect described as "a male dressed in black" and visible in security footage released by law enforcement.
