The Republican leaders noted that while the assistance funded by the supplemental appropriations bill will not be impacted, security assistance to Israel is an urgent priority with no delay.
The report is due in "the coming days".
US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin clarified that the decision referred to only one shipment of arms and that no final decision had been made regarding other arms transfers to Israel.
"This is an inflection point in history. Western democracy perhaps faced its greatest threat since the end of the Cold War," Democratic Majority Leader Chuck Schumer said in the Senate.
According to the report, during a war cabinet discussion, the officials stated that the worsening situation with the Biden administration could harm future US aid to Israel.
“If we cannot buy accurate weapons for our planes, we will have to use inaccurate weapons in the war in the Gaza Strip,” which will naturally lead to more casualties."

Borrell recalled that US President Joe Biden said last week that Israel's response to the Oct. 7 Hamas attack had been "over the top."
The security aid bill includes $61 billion for Ukraine as it battles a Russian invasion, $14 billion for Israel in its war against Hamas.
