During a speech at the FII Priority Summit in Miami, Trump said that the US is "negotiating now, and it would be great if we could do something, but they have to open it up."

In a post on Truth Social, Trump described the Iranian delegation as “very different and ‘strange,’” and asserted that Tehran has been “militarily obliterated” with “zero chance of a comeback.”

The statements come as the US pushes to a diplomatic end to the hostilities with Tehran after almost four weeks of fighting.

Earlier on Monday, Trump had postponed for five days a plan to hit Iran's power plants and energy infrastructure. Iran later denied that it had engaged in negotiations with the United States.

“If we left right now, it would take them at least 10 years to rebuild, but rebuild they will,” Trump said in the roughly 15-minute call with CNBC.

These primary battles highlight a broader struggle inside the party over its future as it tries to rebuild after election losses in 2024 and starts to consider potential candidates for 2028.
