The country's first light rail
began operating a few weeks ago
in Jerusalem, after years of waiting, and many delays along the way.
Since there have been problems coordinating with the city's traffic
light system, the light rail is not fully operational. That's why the
public is welcome to enjoy a free ride on the train for now.
During the High Holidays, the train was a hot attraction, drawing many
residents, families, visitors from all over the country and tourists
who came to check out the light rail in the capital. This caused
overcrowding and very long lines. A number of attendants had to ensure
that the doors of the light rail would close before trains would make their
way through the stations.
