And Ninja’s journey continues. What began as a series of tasks with a ladder of challenges gradually rises – cooking, coffee, blenders and almost every other possible sub-genre – has in recent years turned into sharpening capabilities and diving into the depth of home resolution. Solutions, and then more focused solutions, and then solutions to new problems that arise, and here we are approaching a world where the solutions solve problems we have not yet raised.
Because an air fryer is obvious, of course. Everyone has one and everyone uses it, we have all cooked and we have all specialized. But what happens in the next stage of the process? How do you organize for the next generation of devices, and how much should you consider the next slot in the schedule of all of our daily lives?
The new Crispi from Ninja does not settle for answers to all these questions and uncertainties. It wants to be the one that asks the questions and the one that sets problems, and also wants to be the answer itself.
The new device (model FN101) from the importer Sarig Electric is a kitchen multi-tasker, defined as a “portable cooking system,” with clear capabilities of food preparation, serving and storage – built-in, in the same system and in an elegant and smooth manner, as expected from the brand.
It starts with a somewhat alien-looking Crispi PowerPod unit that is responsible for operation, identifies one of the two glass containers included in the package (in a 3.8-liter family size and a 1.4-liter couple size and more compact, with glass that feels high quality) and automatically adjusts the cooking temperature to them, according to the selected program. From there, the table waits for serving, the refrigerator waits for entry and the bag waits for a ready to-go meal.
This flow chart is smooth and fluid, of course, and relies on known and proven operating principles of Ninja. The business works, and includes thought about small details (grip handles, grilling surfaces and lids for the containers, for example, and safety feet for the hot unit), medium details (a relatively reasonable weight of the cooking pod) and large details (a power of about 1,700 watts), but what makes the difference is mainly the general feeling that the brand spreads.
It is difficult to explain it in theoretical words, certainly when it comes to an electric and technical product, with clear characteristics, and therefore we will just call it nonchalant. Things click, things are adjusted, things were thought through and returned with the ability to perform. A lid that lifts and automatically stops the grilling operation, for example, and four modes that neutralize the need for too many thoughts – hot air frying, of course, grilling, re-crisp for ready food and keeping warm, until serving – and provide impressive and mess-free results.
For a certain lifestyle, for a certain kitchen, this is a perfect solution. That lifestyle, and that kitchen, is most of ours.
It is very easy to imagine the Crispi naturally entering small kitchens, crowded apartments and even – this is our reality, it cannot be ignored – into kitchen-challenged military units, for example. It is small (34 cm length, 30.4 cm width, 34.5 height), its boxes stack (and are easy to clean), the assembly does not take up space on the counter and all that is required, of course, is only an electrical outlet.
You can refer to the fact that you cannot choose and adjust temperature, or to the need to adapt meals to the size of the included containers as a certain limitation, but these are not bugs but features that take into account compact kitchens and a dynamic and quick lifestyle that chooses not to operate a large oven for every meal (or does not have one available).
At the stated price (NIS 649), this is a reasonable entry threshold into this specific food world, with several advanced features. Until the next thing.
