Ahead of the summer and hosting season, Israco's The Scottish is launching CODORNÍU ZERO in Israel, a non-alcoholic sparkling drink from the veteran Spanish Cava brand Codorníu. This is a alcohol-free version of the traditional Cava, which attempts to meet the growing demand for festive drinks with less alcohol and greater health awareness.
In recent years, more and more consumers are choosing to reduce alcohol consumption as part of a balanced lifestyle, without giving up the drinking and hosting experience. Codorníu Zero joins the global trend of "zero" drinks, offering a light alternative suitable for events, summer meals, drivers, pregnant women, or simply anyone who prefers to enjoy a sparkling drink without the effects of alcohol.
The drink is produced in the Catalonia region of Spain from Chardonnay and Xarel·lo grapes, presenting a fresh and fruity style with a golden color and delicate carbonation. According to the winery, the drink includes aromas of green apples, citrus, tropical fruit, and white blossom, alongside a light and balanced finish.
The production process begins similarly to classical Cava production, with the grape harvest and fermentation at low temperatures to preserve the aromas and fruitiness. Afterwards, the wine undergoes a gentle process to remove the alcohol using a vacuum technology developed by the House of Codorníu, aiming to preserve as much as possible the flavors and complexity of the original drink.
The drink is recommended to be served exceptionally cold, around 4 degrees, and is suitable as an aperitif alongside appetizers, salads, fish, and light summer cuisine.
The House of Codorníu is considered one of the historic names in the Spanish wine world. It was founded as early as 1551 and is considered the oldest winery in Spain. At the end of the 19th century, Josep Raventós produced the first Cava using the traditional method identified with French Champagne, and since then the brand has become one of the prominent sparkling wine producers in the world.
Today, the company holds extensive vineyards in Catalonia and other regions in Spain, combining long-standing tradition with advanced production technologies and environmentally friendly agriculture.
