Despite being overtaken in sales by Chinese brands, in Israel as in the rest of the world, Tesla still enjoys strong demand in the used-car market. According to data from the Yad2 listings platform, the Model 3 is the most searched-for electric car by Israelis on the site, ahead of the Geely Geometry C and the BYD Atto 3, in the competition between the three most common electric cars on Israeli roads: 19,250 searches for Tesla, 18,940 for Geely, and 33,160 for the Atto 3.
Rounding out the top five are the Tesla Model Y, which ranks ahead of its competitors the Xpeng G6 and the Hyundai Ioniq 5. Interestingly, more affordable models such as the MG ZS EV, Hyundai Kona, and Chery FX rank below them, possibly due to their shorter driving range.
A comparative analysis of Yad2 data for the first quarter of 2026 versus the same period last year shows an increase in demand for electrified vehicles of all types. While searches for gasoline and diesel models have declined, there was a 23% increase in searches for fully electric vehicles. Hybrids recorded stable demand (a 1% decline), and plug-in hybrid models saw a slight decrease (down 5%), despite growth in supply.
Comparing the first five months of 2025 and 2026, there was an increase in the supply share for electric vehicles (up 1.3%), plug-in hybrid gasoline models (up 0.93%), and gasoline hybrids (up 0.23%). In contrast, there was a decline in the share of gasoline vehicles (down 1.01%) and diesel vehicles (down 0.68%).

“We are seeing a maturation process,” explains Shani Raved, CEO of Yad2 Cars. “The market being flooded with new models, along with growing awareness of ongoing cost savings, is pushing used-car buyers to explore alternatives to gasoline engines. Despite past tax changes and some hesitation, the first-quarter 2026 data proves that electric vehicles have become an integral and growing part of the Israeli mix.”
Gasoline engines still remain the largest market segment on the listings site, but their relative share of demand has adjusted (a decline of about 16% compared to last year).
How is demand distributed across cities in Israel? Yad2’s demand map shows that the cities with the highest ratio of inquiries per electric vehicle listing are Rishon Lezion, Jerusalem, and Tel Aviv. This indicates that in these cities existing inventory is being “cleared” the fastest, thanks to developing charging infrastructure.
