To a large extent, Chef Motti Titman is responsible for making the culinary wilderness of the Ono Valley bloom, and he deserves a big thank you for that. After the Jonz wine bar, and the Johnny café which even brought the best hummus in the area to the Valley, the newest addition to our culinary life is pizza.

Only with Titman, as with Titman, it is not just any pizza. The new pizza in the Valley is a gi-an-tic New York pizza served as part of MONDAY NEW YORK nights, which take place every Monday at Jonz, bringing a rugged New York aroma to the area with excellent jazz music and drinks that complete the atmosphere.

The New York pizza actually started as an Independence Day special, when Vered Shoval, one of the beloved contestants on the recent season of "Game of Chefs", took over the kitchen at Jonz and turned out giant pizzas that generated massive lines and peak demand for the coveted bite.

Independence Day has long since passed, but the large pizza made from rustic dough remained in the hearts of those who chewed it, and after countless requests from those who experienced it and fell in love, Titman decided to turn it into a special evening that takes place at Jonz once a week – on Mondays only starting at 19:00.

Dough with the aroma of fresh bread

As part of MONDAY NEW YORK, the regular menu is replaced by a limited special menu featuring several types of pizzas – all with a giant diameter (NIS 92–98), a truly wonderful Caesar salad with soft tomatoes, pretzel croutons in butter, and a sauce that must be wiped from the plate with a finger (NIS 68), and 7 cocktails ranging from light to knock-your-socks-off (NIS 58–61), including a classic margarita and a beautifully executed Gin Clover Club.

The pizzas are made from a fragrant, crust-heavy rustic dough, something between New York and Roman style, which means that despite the enormous size, the toppings are held firmly and do not sag downward, and the edges are crispy and very, very tasty.

On the list of toppings in the red pizza section, which come with a wonderful tomato sauce, you will find pepperoni; a classic margherita; red onion and Kalamata olives with a twist of za'atar, and sometimes a decadent stracciatella that melts over everything into a rare bite.

In the white section stars a single, mischievous and spicy pizza: A white corn pizza with béchamel, mozzarella, gouda, arugula, and a loooot of hot chili. If you are with children – ask for it without.

They are all truly excellent thanks to great dough and generous toppings, and the giant size allows you to fold each slice in half and then enjoy a bite that has it all. If you did not finish, know that it can be packed up and taken home, and from experience – it is truly delicious even the day after.

The New York atmosphere is complemented by excellent vinyl record music that wanders between different styles – blues, jazz, and soul music from the twenties and thirties that warms the heart.

Joining all this goodness is a wonderful, soft, and rich tiramisu made from real zabaglione cream (NIS 45) and a great bonus in the form of plentiful parking. And there you have a perfect spot for any pizza-alcohol-entertainment craving that arises. Thank you, Titman, on behalf of the local residents who have been waiting for such a fun pizza for years.
